AugPlayed with nail colors again last night. Late pass on these swatches. I like both, but have some pros/cons.
Turquoise & Caicos: Essie’s Summer 2010 Resort Collection. They describe it as a flirty and pretty tropical aqua. It took 3 coats to get it on right. I love the creamy color, I hate the thin brush and streaky application. I wouldn’t wear this on an everyday basis, but it goes with some of my basic wardrobe pieces. I’d never wear it with prints unless there was a splash of turquoise on my clothes. Pops out when I wear black pieces too. Regardless, it’s a nice summer color. A great alternative to the basic summer corals. :)
Lilacism: Essie’s Spring 2010 Collection. It’s described as elegant and enchanting, this satiny smooth lilac whispers springtime. I like this color a lot. The application was a bit streaky, but on the second coat, I decided to lay it on thicker than the first coat. It’s a light blue lilac, at some angles it’s like a grayish lilac cream. I’d wear this as an alternative to the pale pinks and nudes I often favor. Not my favorite purple swatch, but I like it enough to wear for the week instead of my go-to pinks. My absolute FAVE purple shade is from the original OPI Designer Series Fall 2009 DS 003. Too bad it’s discontinued. :(

AugSwitched my nails to Essie’s Merino Cool. I love this color. Essie calls it a “sensuous autumn mulberry”. I know it’s still Summer, but I wanted to try this Fall color already HAHA. It has hints of purple, grey, beige, and taupe. I hate that Essie’s brushes aren’t as wide as OPI’s, but I had no problem polishing 2 coats on my nails. This color’s a keeper. :)

AugFrom Essie’s Summer 2009 collection, I finally tried Cute as a Button and I love it! It kind of reminds me of L’Oreal’s Mango-Get-Em, but a tad bit brighter. These pics make it look orange, but it’s a nice coral, more pink than orange. It’s not too neon. Used OPI Nail Strengthener, 2 coats of Cute as a Button, Essie’s 3-way Glaze for base and top coat. :)
Note to self: use my camera, not my iPhone. :P

AugI don’t prefer the traditional French Manicure palette. So I tried using Essie’s Marshmallow on my tips (2 coats), and OPI’s Passion (Sheer Romance Collection) over the entire nail (2 coats). Base and top coat is Essie’s 3-way Glaze. I use OPI’s Nail Strengthener on clean nails before putting any polish. This combo mutes the traditional French Mani a bit. Me likey! :)
